About Bella Ciao Cinema

Bella Ciao Cinema emphasizes human rights, social justice, and the deconstruction of oppressive hierarchies in our film production stories. In this mission, we aim to confront the responsibility cinema has, as a medium, to the world we inhabit and the geopolitical underpinnings surrounding us. Filmmaking is inherently political, and has no history of neutrality or innocence. We oppose the weaponization of cinema as a means to canonize prejudice stereotypes, lionize state violence, and erase the histories of disenfranchised communities.

 

In order to help build a creative and equitable culture of cinema, it is vital we tell stories that do more than identify and expose injustices. Our stories must center solution-based thinking in rejection of complacent acceptance. Our stories intend to offer hope and insight, envisioning the better worlds that are always possible.
